Job description
Role overview
The AV Technician will be responsible for keeping all audio-visual systems running smoothly and dependably so events at SJ Campus (38 Cleantech Loop) are delivered without disruption. The role centers on hands-on support for AV setup, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and event-day readiness.
Core duties
- Set up and run audio, lighting, visual, and vMix consoles, along with the full range of AV equipment, while offering technical guidance to users and event organisers.
- Install and configure devices including microphones, speakers, display screens, projectors, monitors, recording tools, cables, and sound/mixing equipment.
- Provide support for lighting, sound, and stage needs whenever required.
- Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance, and follow workplace safety practices at all times.
- Escalate any unusual incidents, damage, or potential issues at the work site to the supervisor.
- Carry out daily cleaning checks and functional testing of equipment in the auditorium, theatre, training rooms, and meeting rooms before and after events.
- Handle troubleshooting of AV equipment up to an intermediate level.
- Upload digital content to media display panels when needed.
- Support event logistics in addition to AV work for VIP visits, events, and client requests.
- Check and sign off work completed by temporary or ad-hoc vendors and subcontractors.
- Take on other related tasks required to support departmental goals and operations.
- Remain on standby for meetings, events, and video conferences where AV usage is expected.
- Work with OEMs and vendors for equipment servicing and repair matters.
- Guide a buddy in AV setup and troubleshooting practices.
- Track AV inventory and maintain asset records.
- Help review and update SOPs for AV systems.
Requirements
- NITEC in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a similar qualification, together with 1 to 2 years of experience working with AV systems and related computer knowledge.
- An energetic, curious, and proactive personality that helps identify technical issues and practical solutions.
- Strong spoken and written English skills for day-to-day work execution.
- A solid safety-first attitude and good workplace health and safety behaviour.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, Public Holidays, and overtime when required.
- Practical experience with show-entertainment AV/video and lighting technologies; AVLC system integration experience is preferred.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Basic proficiency with computers and MS Office.
