Overview
We seek an experienced and proactive Country Director to lead and facilitate the launch and operational establishment of our presence in European markets, specifically based in Athens. This senior role blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution and is tailored for a candidate with a strong background in starting and growing regulated financial services firms.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate all market entry processes, including company incorporation, banking setup, and liaising with local regulators in partnership with internal teams and external experts.
- Supervise daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient office management.
- Serve as the principal local representative in dealings with regulatory authorities and government agencies.
- Maintain strict compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the business.
- Contribute to crafting and implementing strategies for market expansion and company growth.
- Identify new growth opportunities and assist in executing expansion initiatives.
- Keep abreast of market trends, competitor activity, and changes in regulatory environment.
- Support brand development efforts by participating in marketing campaigns, events, and public relations activities.
- Engage with media and external stakeholders to enhance the company’s market position.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding local staff, ensuring collaboration between local and central teams.
- Foster alignment with the company’s culture, processes, and corporate standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Extensive senior-level experience within financial services, fintech, brokerage, or investment banking sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of European regulatory environments.
- Proven track record in market entry, business foundation, or scaling operations in regulated industries.
- Experience overseeing office management and operational efficiency.
- Capable of leading and managing a local team of approximately ten members.
- Accountability for office profitability and operational effectiveness.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, proficient in engaging with regulators, banking partners, media, and executive leadership.
- Experience representing a company in conferences and public speaking engagements.
- Fluent proficiency in both English and Greek languages.
- Eligibility to work in Greece with willingness to relocate to Athens.
