Role Overview
We seek two Executive Directors to join our Board, one of whom will also serve as the Company's Chief Executive Officer. Both will hold Board-level duties to oversee prudent and sound management. Initial priorities will stress developing robust, compliant operational capabilities, fostering trusted relationships with customers and regulators, and ensuring top-notch service delivery, alongside contributing to business growth, product innovation, and regional expansion.
As senior executives in a company pursuing a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license, candidates must engage fully in the MPI application process, including regulatory interviews and fit-and-proper evaluations by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Candidates must meet MAS standards related to integrity, competence, reputation, and financial stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic Board-level leadership ensuring the organization meets ongoing MAS licensing and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the establishment and oversight of Subotiz's regulated payment services in Singapore, including scalable operations, governance frameworks, and compliance-aligned reporting.
- Manage regulatory and risk control structures (AML/CFT, third-party and technology risk, business continuity) in conjunction with compliance officers and Board committees.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate key operational and technological risks, like fraud and AML/CFT vulnerabilities.
- Advance regional growth by leveraging commercial opportunities and positioning Subotiz within the cross-border payments and e-commerce markets.
- Maintain strong partnerships with merchants, banking and settlement entities, regulators; act as senior escalation point for operational and service issues.
- Lead business development, commercial strategy formulation, pipeline oversight, partner integrations, pricing, and long-term revenue objectives.
- Champion ongoing improvements in operational processes, systems, customer support, and service quality.
- Ensure robust local control and oversight of technology and security in coordination with the Group's tech teams.
- Build and mentor a dynamic, high-performing team emphasizing accountability, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Exhibit unwavering integrity, judicious decision-making, and independent regulatory judgment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum five years in a managerial role within payments, fintech, e-commerce/cross-border payments, banking, or related financial service sectors.
- Proven leadership in operations, service delivery, preferably with exposure to regulated environments.
- Experience creating and scaling operational models and teams, ideally for startups or new license holders.
- Demonstrated success in supporting business expansion through client acquisition, partnerships, or commercial strategy development.
- Knowledge of multiple APAC markets and ability to collaborate across cultures and borders.
- In-depth understanding of risk, governance, and MAS regulations, including familiarity with the Payment Services Act and MPI responsibilities.
- Capability to operate strategically and hands-on in an early-stage business context.
- Proven ability to oversee company activities and staff with sufficient competence and influence.
- Authorization to serve as a director in a MAS-licensed Singapore entity and residence eligibility in Singapore.
