Programme Overview
This permanent graduate role is part of Westpac New Zealand's 2027 Graduate Programme designed to develop the next generation of leaders. The programme offers opportunities to expand your professional network and immerse yourself in Westpac's vibrant graduate community.
What the Programme Offers
You'll gain practical experience within the Corporate Banking team, which provides tailored services to medium and large enterprises across various sectors in New Zealand. The programme, based in Auckland, lasts about 10-12 months and begins with an orientation in February 2027 to familiarize you with Westpac and fellow graduates. After completion, you'll receive support to transition into a role aligned with your skills and interests.
Support and Development
Comprehensive learning opportunities and mentoring from banking champions and business leaders will enhance your performance and career growth. You will engage in customized training that targets both technical and interpersonal skills, fostering your overall development. Additionally, you can participate in various community, volunteering, and sustainability initiatives.
Daily Tasks
- Contribute meaningfully from day one and impact business outcomes.
- Develop thorough knowledge of Westpac's banking products and industry insights.
- Analyze financial data and assist in preparing credit submissions for customers.
- Support Relationship Managers in identifying potential customers and business growth opportunities.
- Work on a significant project addressing a real business challenge, propose and execute solutions, and present findings to key stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should be final-year students or recent graduates (within 12 months) holding undergraduate or postgraduate degrees. Eligibility is limited to New Zealand or Australian citizens or permanent residents. Ideal candidates have a passion for agribusiness, customer engagement, and teamwork. Degrees in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related fields are preferred.
- Experience with financial analysis, accounting, or business is important.
- Ability to identify opportunities, innovate, adapt, and drive productivity improvements.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent interpersonal abilities.
- A customer-focused mindset, teamwork spirit, and strong ethics and professionalism.
