Job description

Role overview

This position sits within Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) and focuses on helping shape and maintain the controls, policies, procedures, and programs that reduce the chance of legal, regulatory, or policy breaches. The role supports a broader risk management framework designed to keep risk within the firm’s appetite and safeguard the franchise. It also involves partnering with ICRM product and function coverage teams to help build compliance risk solutions aligned with business needs and the Citi program framework.

Key responsibilities

  • Support senior colleagues in developing, delivering, improving, and maintaining strong compliance programs, policies, and practices for ICRM.
  • Check materials and documentation to confirm alignment with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Spot possible issues or exposures and escalate them for review when needed.
  • Prepare and maintain tracking, control, and analysis reports, while ensuring documents are stored securely and retained properly.
  • Assist senior team members in reviewing compliance risk issues, responding to them, and drafting standard correspondence.
  • Coordinate with other teams across ICRM and Citi as needed.
  • Help manage the regulatory inventory, regulatory change process, and logistics for regulatory examinations where required.
  • Assist with creating, editing, and updating compliance-program materials.
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned.
  • Assess risk carefully when decisions are made, with attention to the firm’s reputation, client and asset protection, and adherence to laws, regulations, policy, ethical standards, and transparent escalation of control issues.

Required qualifications

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and handle change with a flexible and innovative mindset.
  • Good interpersonal ability and comfort working with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid project coordination and organization skills, with the capacity to manage several priorities at once.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic familiarity with compliance laws, regulations, risks, and typologies.
  • Working understanding of the relevant area of focus.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in a financial services company, a regulatory body, or a legal/consulting environment, or a mix of these.
