Role overview
The KYC Operations Analyst 2 is an intermediate-level role focused on anti-money laundering monitoring, governance, oversight, and regulatory reporting in partnership with the Compliance and Control team. The main purpose of the position is to support and manage Citi’s internal Know Your Client (KYC) program.
Core responsibilities
- Carry out detailed reviews of client profiles for customer accounts.
- Check that all documents and information meet local legal requirements as well as Citi’s internal standards.
- Revise KYC forms and customer profiles whenever policy changes require updates.
- Coordinate with clients to obtain outstanding information before deadlines pass.
- Handle KYC workstreams, including tracking KYC records and appendix approvals, supporting action plans for records nearing expiry, and making sure records do not become overdue.
- Evaluate business decisions with appropriate risk awareness, keeping the firm’s reputation in mind and helping protect Citigroup, its clients, and assets through compliance with laws, rules, and internal policies.
- Use sound judgment in day-to-day conduct, and promptly escalate, manage, and report control concerns with transparency.
- Perform enhanced due diligence and other KYC checks on both new and existing clients across client segments.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of identification papers, corporate registration records, ownership structures, and related evidence.
- Assess client risk levels under established procedures, including identification of red flags, politically exposed persons, and adverse media signals.
- Run sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening through approved tools, and escalate possible matches for deeper review.
- Work with relationship managers and case managers to clear discrepancies and resolve queries.
- Manage a queue of KYC cases, ensuring work is completed on time and complex matters are escalated appropriately.
- Contribute ideas and support efforts to improve KYC workflows and operating procedures.
Experience and qualifications
This position calls for 5+ years of relevant experience. Prior exposure to banking operations is preferred, especially experience in client account opening and pre-requirement activities in KYC, AML, or compliance roles within financial services such as banking, investment management, or FinTech. An ACAMS certification or an equivalent credential is considered an advantage.
Education
A bachelor’s degree, university degree, or equivalent practical experience is required.
