Job description

Role overview

This internship is with Habitat for Humanity Singapore’s Communications & Marketing team. The role focuses on building awareness of the organisation’s brand and sharing compelling stories about its work, especially around improving housing systems worldwide. It suits someone who is imaginative, inquisitive, and interested in social media, digital content, and human-interest storytelling.

You will get practical exposure to creating online content, speaking with beneficiaries and volunteers, and turning real experiences into engaging stories for social platforms and the website.

This is a six-month internship, with a preference for the candidate to begin in Jul 2026.

Content creation and social media

  • Create content for social channels such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, including short videos, photos, graphics, and caption copy.
  • Help record and edit materials such as interviews, event recaps, volunteer stories, and campaign videos.
  • Organise and publish posts in line with the content calendar.
  • Track social media trends and contribute fresh, creative content ideas.

Story development and editorial support

  • Identify and shape stories featuring beneficiaries, volunteers, and staff.
  • Draft website stories, blog posts, and feature articles that highlight human interest.
  • Present stories with sensitivity, factual accuracy, and respect for safeguarding and consent rules.

Brand, communications, and campaign support

  • Keep all content aligned with brand standards, messaging, and tone of voice.
  • Assist with simple creative tasks such as social graphics and basic page layouts.
  • Support website updates, EDMs, and other basic communications materials.
  • Provide help for campaigns, events, and fundraising activities when required.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant is currently studying, or has recently completed, a diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Media, or a related discipline. They should be keen on social content creation and storytelling, have a good eye for detail, and be comfortable learning how to interview people. The role also calls for initiative, a willingness to learn, the ability to work independently and with others, and a strong interest in social impact work.

Application requirements

Applicants are expected to share a complete CV, a writing sample, a portfolio, and links to any campaigns they have contributed to.

Safeguarding and conduct

Habitat for Humanity expects all employees to take their ethical duties toward safeguarding seriously. This includes protecting beneficiaries, communities, and everyone the organisation works with. Managers are responsible for supporting systems that prevent harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse, protect beneficiary and child rights, and uphold the organisation’s code of conduct.
