Job description
About the Role
Rosewood Cape Kidnappers is seeking a senior people leader to oversee Talent & Culture across a cluster of three luxury properties in New Zealand: Cape Kidnappers in Hawke's Bay, Kauri Cliffs in Northland, and Matakauri in Queenstown. This position is part of the New Zealand leadership team and reports to the Managing Director. The role provides functional leadership and coaching to the property-based Talent & Culture teams, with the goal of delivering a consistent, exceptional employee experience across the cluster.
In this position, you will shape the people strategy for the region, strengthen the employee journey, support a high-performing culture, and help position Rosewood New Zealand as an employer of choice in luxury hospitality. You will also work closely with regional and global Talent & Culture stakeholders to keep local practices aligned with the brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement a cluster-wide talent strategy that supports business goals and commercial priorities.
- Act as a reliable advisor to the Managing Director and property leadership teams on workforce matters, organizational structure, and leadership development.
- Design and drive programs for recruitment, performance management, and succession planning to build future leaders.
- Lead the Talent & Culture function across three hotels, including management of seasonal hiring and associate accommodation.
- Develop initiatives that improve engagement, wellbeing, inclusion, and workplace culture.
- Use reporting and people analytics to identify challenges, predict trends, and assess the impact of talent programs.
- Ensure HR operations and compliance are managed to a high standard across all locations.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings more than 8 years of strategic HR leadership experience and has worked in luxury or similarly high-service settings. Hospitality or luxury background is strongly preferred. You should have a proven record of building effective talent strategies and turning ideas into practical plans that produce measurable results.
This role also calls for a calm, empathetic, and influential leader who can build trust with senior stakeholders, guide complex people matters, and support a diverse, inclusive, and high-performance culture. Strong comfort with data, metrics, and analysis is important, as is the ability to lead a distributed team and travel between properties as needed.
What’s Offered
- Competitive salary package
- Permanent full-time employment
- Daily travel allowance
- Discounts on property offerings such as food and beverage, spa, and golf
- Access to retail and service discounts through the employee perks program
- 12 complimentary nights of accommodation each year at Rosewood hotels worldwide
- Eligibility for a bonus
- Training and development through Rosewood Academy
- A collaborative and supportive work environment
Eligibility
