Clinical Research Nurse (Band 6) - Part Time

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Clinical Research Nurse at Band 6 level to become a member of the Observational and Supportive Research Team. The position involves working four days weekly and offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to advancing oncology research across several specialties including Medical Oncology, Clinical Oncology, Radiotherapy-related research, Anaesthetics, and Critical Care.

This role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary group comprising Consultants, Clinical Fellows, Research Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Trial Pharmacists, Project Managers, and Clinical Trial Coordinators/Administrators, supporting a diverse portfolio of NIHR non-commercial, academic-led studies and select commercial clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage trial protocols within the oncology observational and supportive research arena.
• Screen, recruit, and obtain informed consent from patients for a variety of observational clinical trials.
• Support patients enrolled in studies, ensuring all study-related interventions and assessments comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and Trust standards.
• Deliver trial-specific assessments, including sample collection, questionnaires, toxicity evaluations, interviews, real-world data logging, and clinical data management.
• Maintain exceptional organizational abilities to handle complex trial pathways effectively.
• Provide continued support and communication with patients participating in clinical research studies.

Candidate Requirements

• Essential experience in oncology nursing with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Background in clinical research is advantageous.
• Strong IT competency for managing research data and documentation.
• Flexibility with working days is necessary.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
