Job description
Position Overview
This full-time role within a busy, well-supported Dermatology Department provides comprehensive clinical dermatology exposure, including opportunities to develop specialist interests and engage in research activities. It is ideally suited for motivated individuals aiming to enter the national specialist Dermatology training programme or pursue CESR training.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a wide range of specialised dermatology clinics serving a population of approximately 600,000 across the Aneurin Bevan Health Board.
- Participate in general medical clinics, lesion clinics, paediatric dermatology, biologics, phototherapy, and multi-disciplinary clinics involving Gynaecology and Rheumatology.
- Support and contribute to an award-winning Teledermatology Service developed in collaboration with Medical Illustration.
- Engage actively in clinical governance meetings and case presentations.
- Utilise facilities across five hospitals, with inpatient, day surgery, and phototherapy units primarily at St Woolos Hospital, Newport, and phototherapy services at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.
Candidate Profile and Eligibility
- Completion of FY2 or equivalent competencies with a strong foundation in medicine.
- Possession of MRCP or equivalent qualifications is desirable but not mandatory.
- Minimum one year of NHS experience demonstrating career progression, including evidence of MRCP Part 1 attempt or completion.
- Prior experience in Dermatology, detailed by the candidate, is required.

- No on-call duties currently associated with this role.
- The initial contract is for 8 months with potential for renewal based on exceptional progress, as assessed through e-portfolio review.
- The role offers the same training opportunities and study leave as formal training posts.
