Job description
Role overview
As a Home Assessor in South Australia, you’ll spend much of your time on the road visiting damaged properties, reviewing the situation first-hand, and deciding which repair approach is appropriate. The role suits someone comfortable explaining next steps in a customer’s driveway, discussing scopes with builders, and keeping repair work progressing when timing is critical.
Most days begin with a scheduled list of site visits. You’ll inspect damage, assess the extent of the loss, and determine the best repair method based on what you observe. Some cases will be simple and others will call for a more detailed, hands-on review, including checking accessible areas, tracing moisture movement, and evaluating earlier repairs that have not held up.
You’ll also spend time speaking directly with customers, clearly outlining outcomes and what happens next. Although this is primarily an on-road assessing position, some assessments will also be completed from your desktop. In addition, you’ll build and maintain strong relationships with customers and the repair network while delivering a high standard of service that reflects the Youi brand.
Key duties
- Carry out a full-time, remote role based in Adelaide.
- Visit properties, assess damage on site, and confidently decide and document the right repair method so work can proceed.
- Review scopes with builders, handle disputes where needed, and help keep repairs advancing despite delays or differing views.
- Explain assessment results to customers in person and answer questions about the next steps.
- Manage a daily run sheet covering new and active claims, including inspections, scope preparation, follow-ups, and record keeping.
- Use online systems every day to complete reports and related documentation.
- Travel across Australia may be required during catastrophe events to support impacted areas.
Experience and background
You’ll ideally bring experience in one of the following areas: insurance assessing, loss adjusting, building, restoration, estimating, desktop home assessing, or home claims management. The role calls for someone who has already scoped repairs and worked closely with customers and builders.
What success looks like
The best fit for this role is someone who can connect the dots between damage, reports, and policy details to make sound decisions even when the answer is not obvious. You’ll need to stay proactive when the workload increases, keep repairs moving through strong follow-up, and remain familiar with claims and building terminology and processes.
Strong communication, negotiation, and computer skills are important, along with the ability to keep momentum going without waiting for others to take the lead.
Benefits and perks
- Company car, fuel card, and mobile business tools are provided.
- Health and wellbeing support includes free skin checks, flu vaccinations, wellbeing sessions, and discounted gym access.
- Discounted Youi insurance is part of the package.

- You can choose a 9-day fortnight with every second Friday off.
- 22 days of annual leave are offered.
- Paid training starts from day one.
About the employer
The company aims to make insurance feel more human by pairing customers with real people when something goes wrong and by supporting employees to grow. The role is designed for someone who wants meaningful work, visible impact, and a career path that can develop around their strengths.
