Civil Technician

Position Overview

This Civil Technician role involves responding promptly to guest repair requests and coordinating with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues effectively. The role requires performing preventive maintenance on various tools, kitchen appliances, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visual inspections of tools, equipment, and machinery are part of daily duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate all shut-off valves and utility controls for equipment and buildings.
• Manage maintenance inventory and order parts and supplies as necessary.
• Communicate daily activities and issues with other shifts through established communication protocols.
• Demonstrate or acquire skills across multiple domains including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, landscaping, and energy conservation.
• Conduct surface preparation, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, painting, and thorough cleanup of work areas.
• Test, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems such as plumbing (toilet plunging, drain unclogging), electrical components, lamps, switches, outlets, vacuum cleaners, and internet devices.
• Program televisions and assist with housekeeping and engineering-related inventory tasks.
• Utilize Lockout/Tagout procedures before performing maintenance tasks to ensure safety.
• Perform interior and exterior landscaping maintenance, including sprinkler repairs.
• Use basic computer skills to input air handler schedules and adjust temperatures.
• Comply with all company, safety, and security policies, report safety hazards or incidents, complete safety training, and handle flammable materials properly.
• Maintain a professional appearance and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Provide exceptional guest service in line with company standards, including assisting individuals with disabilities.
• Work collaboratively with team members to meet common goals and support co-workers appropriately.
• Physically perform duties involving lifting up to 50 pounds independently and heavier loads with assistance; navigate stairs, ramps, and ladders; and bend, twist, and stoop as needed.

Education and Experience

Applicants should have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Previous experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting is preferred, especially in hotel engineering or maintenance contexts. No supervisory experience is required.

Licenses and Certifications

A valid driver's license is mandatory for the role.
