About the Role
An established and internationally accredited hospital group in Dubai is expanding its geriatric and long-term care offerings and seeks experienced Consultant or Specialist Geriatric Medicine Physicians. This role provides a chance to practice in a JCI-accredited environment, delivering patient-focused, specialized care to an elderly patient demographic with complex needs. Position Summary
- Post: Consultant or Specialist Physician in Geriatric Medicine
- Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- Facility Type: Private, government-affiliated, multispecialty tertiary care center accredited by JCI
- Experience Requirement: At least 3 years after board certification
- Scope of Practice: Comprehensive geriatric evaluations, management of chronic illnesses, rehabilitation and long-term care coordination
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed geriatric assessments covering functional, cognitive, psychological, and social parameters
- Diagnose and manage intricate elderly health conditions including multimorbidity, frailty, and polypharmacy
- Create and execute personal care plans focused on long-term health, rehabilitation needs, and enhancing quality of life
- Manage chronic conditions such as dementia, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and neurological disorders
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and social workers
- Conduct risk assessments for falls, oversee rehabilitation and mobility programs
- Provide guidance on end-of-life care, palliative treatments, and advanced care planning
- Optimize medication regimens and mitigate polypharmacy hazards in elderly patients
- Engage in clinical governance, lead quality improvement efforts, and uphold patient safety standards
- Maintain thorough and compliant electronic medical records and documentation
- Adhere strictly to UAE health regulations, geriatric care guidelines, and institutional protocols
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Applicants must hold recognized specialist credentials such as American Board (Internal Medicine/Geriatrics), UK CCT or equivalents (MRCP, FRCP), European Board Certification, Canadian Royal College Certification, Australian Fellowship, Arab Board certification, or MD/DNB/FCPS with equivalency.
