About the Role
The Acoustic Neuroma Association of Canada (ANAC) is seeking dedicated individuals to join its Board of Directors. This volunteer, part-time, remote role entails the ultimate governance authority for the organization, guiding its mission and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to board development and participate in strategic planning processes
- Assume roles as Committee Chair or Co-chair with defined responsibilities per committee job descriptions
- Attend and actively engage in bi-monthly virtual Board meetings (~1.5 hours each), annual strategic planning workshops, and additional committee meetings as required
- Engage in Association activities including the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Review and approve the Annual Budget
- Support fundraising efforts and public awareness initiatives
- Uphold the Association’s reputation through professional representation
- Foster relationships with community stakeholders
- Exercise fiscal responsibility aligned with the organization’s goals
- Authorize the hiring and potential release of the National Operations Director
Required Qualifications
- Strong commitment to ANAC’s mission and objectives
- Willingness to lead or co-lead a Board Committee
- Consistent attendance at all board, committee, and AGM meetings
- Active membership in ANAC in good standing
- Relevant background or professional experience in leadership, governance, communications, finance, fundraising, community engagement, or advocacy
- Proven skills in strategic planning, project management, committee coordination, or organizational development, ideally within nonprofit or volunteer organizations
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities for effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders
- Organizational competence with attention to detail and capacity to juggle multiple tasks
- A collaborative mindset and constructive participation in board deliberations
- Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms and basic office software such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Zoom
Additional Information
This position is unpaid, part-time, and fully remote with varied time commitments. Board meetings are virtual and occur twice per month. The nomination process is ongoing with no fixed deadline.
