Job Overview
Lancashire County Council is recruiting for the role of Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) based in Lancaster, Lancashire. This full-time permanent position offers a salary in the range of £25,989 to £28,142 per annum, working 37 hours per week on a pro-rata basis. The role is essential to managing the county's highway network by promoting compliance with parking and traffic regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maximize adherence to parking and traffic laws across Lancashire's highways.
- Identify and take appropriate enforcement action against violations.
- Ensure enforcement measures are accurate and properly applied.
- Deliver excellent customer and stakeholder service throughout all duties.
Role Details
CEOs spend their shifts patrolling Lancashire roads on foot and using council vehicles, which they may be required to drive. Duties involve working outdoors in all weather conditions and occasionally handling challenging scenarios. Use of ICT tools and wearing a provided uniform are required during patrols. A current full driving licence valid for operating council vehicles must be held.
The position operates on a shift system with a typical five-day working week across seven days to maintain enforcement coverage. The main work base is at Lancaster White Cross.
Qualifications and Compliance
Candidates must pass health screening and an enhanced DBS check before commencing. Successful applicants must complete mandatory training and obtain accreditation within six months of starting. The role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 exceptions, requiring a DBS disclosure.
