Job description

Position Overview

This is a permanent, part-time role for a Child and Youth Worker offering 35 hours per week across a 10-month academic term, commencing September 2, 2026. The position is based in Brantford, Ontario, under the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Completion of a three-year post-secondary diploma in Child and Youth Work.
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in child and youth work.
  • Familiarity with applicable legislation concerning children and youth as well as understanding their developmental needs.
  • Proficiency in group work practices and the capacity to work effectively within such settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while collaborating within a team framework.
  • Strong organizational aptitude as a self-starter with capability to handle case management responsibilities.
  • Capacity to interact with students calmly, compassionately, and with professionalism.
  • Maintenance of confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supporting students socially, emotionally, and behaviorally towards their goals.
  • Contributing to the planning and delivery of social, emotional, and behavioral management programs.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and other support services to provide student assistance.
  • Implementing therapeutic interventions for individuals and small groups of students.
  • Providing counseling and crisis intervention services.
  • Monitoring student conduct and reporting progress to teachers and principals.
  • Coordinating with parents and community organizations via the school principal.
  • Enforcing disciplinary actions consistent with the Code of Behavior and Catholic values.
  • Participating in staff meetings and completing additional duties as assigned, including oversight by the Child and Youth Worker Supervisor.
