About the Role

The Employee Health Intake & Triage Specialist is a pivotal first contact for the Employee Health department, providing comprehensive support to employees and leadership by managing occupational and non-occupational health case intake and administration. This role requires physical presence up to five days per week, with potential adjustments based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to all Employee Health inquiries by efficiently handling departmental email inboxes, phone calls, and other communications.
  • Evaluate and prioritize incoming health and disability requests to guarantee timely follow-up and assignment.
  • Establish and maintain confidential digital case records, ensuring thorough and accurate documentation.
  • Manage the flow of medical documents, correspondence, and member records while safeguarding confidentiality standards.
  • Oversee simpler occupational and non-occupational disability cases, escalating complex issues as necessary.
  • Prepare documentation related to salary continuation, disability processing, Workers' Compensation, premium waivers, and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate medical examinations, functional capacity forms, fitness-for-duty assessments, and related reimbursement procedures.
  • Collaborate with Return-to-Work Specialists to support modified work plans and transitional return-to-work programs.
  • Foster strong partnerships with employees, managers, healthcare providers, insurers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality customer service.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives and Employee Health projects to drive operational excellence.
  • Occasionally train and assist new team members in the department.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health Administration, Occupational Health, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • At least two years' experience in disability management, employee or occupational health, human resources, benefits administration, or a similar discipline.
  • Strong organizational and administrative aptitude, capable of juggling multiple priorities within a fast-moving environment.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Proficiency with various software applications and case management systems; familiarity with Cority software is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship management skills, with discretion handling confidential information.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess situations, prioritize tasks, and navigate multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Adaptability and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
  • Experience with disability management, Workers' Compensation, salary continuance, or return-to-work initiatives is an asset.

Additional Information

This role requires working onsite in Calgary, Alberta, with collaboration up to five days per week.
