Job description
Overview
Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics at the University of San Francisco, the Chief Revenue Officer for Athletics is responsible for spearheading all revenue-focused strategies within the athletics department. This encompasses revenue generation, marketing, ticketing, community and alumni engagement, as well as overseeing special events and supporting revenue opportunities for the broader institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and expansion of multimedia rights agreements and corporate partnerships, managing identification, solicitation, and stewardship of external partners.
- Design and implement marketing and promotional strategies with the Chief Communications Officer aimed at enhancing brand visibility, boosting ticket sales, and increasing corporate partnerships.
- Plan and oversee an annual marketing calendar including game-day ticket promotions and special events.
- Manage all staff involved in revenue generation initiatives, including ticket sales and partnership teams.
- Collaborate to establish department-wide external communication policies to optimize efficiency and achieve or surpass revenue targets.
- Manage revenue initiatives tied to event broadcasts and partner with campus colleagues to pursue new revenue-generating programs.
- Lead NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) efforts by generating opportunities for student-athletes, coordinating promotions alongside communications staff, and overseeing activity submissions.
- Forge and maintain alumni connections in partnership with Development and Alumni Relations offices and foster community engagement strategies involving athletic teams within San Francisco neighborhoods.
- Supervise operations related to key department special events, including event planning, staff coordination, budget management, and revenue maximization.
- Represent Athletics in all marketing, development, and revenue aspects of facility projects, managing communication and scheduling for successful project execution.
- Establish strong collaborative ties with various university departments to ensure cohesive communication and revenue strategy alignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum eight years’ experience in sports-related revenue generation and marketing roles.
- In-depth knowledge of NIL best practices and experience managing athletic financial operations.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities.
- Familiarity with NCAA and WCC regulations and their application, including staff oversight in compliance matters.
- Demonstrated capability to lead, supervise, and evaluate teams effectively.
- Motivated self-starter with a focus on growth and the ability to work independently to meet goals.
Compensation and Location
This is a full-time, onsite position based in San Francisco, California. Annual salary ranges between $176,821 and $316,451, commensurate with experience.
