About the Role and Company
NU Advisory Partners is an AI-driven executive search and advisory firm focusing on senior executive and board roles, especially in private capital-backed enterprises. They are conducting a search for a Chief of Staff for a private equity-backed enterprise software company based in the Washington DC-Baltimore area. This position reports directly to the CEO and acts as a strategic partner to both the CEO and the broader executive leadership team.
Core Responsibilities
- Function as a trusted advisor and extension to the CEO, providing structure and external insight into important decisions and initiatives affecting the organization.
- Translate high-level strategic goals into well-defined challenges, actionable options, and clear recommendations for the executive team.
- Maintain oversight of priorities that span multiple functions, ensuring critical projects progress even without a single dedicated leader.
- Design and manage the rhythm of leadership team activities, including meeting structures and decision-making processes.
- Guard the leadership team's time by filtering inputs and assigning ownership appropriately.
- Drive accountability within the executive team for key results by formalizing decisions, owners, and deadlines to ensure execution.
- Lead selected strategic cross-functional initiatives by defining scope, coordinating stakeholders, and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Create detailed project plans to clarify goals, sequencing, and success metrics for complex multi-team efforts.
- Act as a neutral facilitator when initiatives face obstacles, resolving stalemates without formal authority over teams.
- Shape the CEO's communication strategy for internal and external audiences, including leadership sessions, keynote speeches, and formal correspondence.
- Collaborate with communications teams to prepare narrative materials, presentations, and talking points to effectively convey CEO priorities.
- Synthesize meetings and analyses into concise summaries that enable the executive team to make informed, timely decisions.
- Coordinate the preparation of relevant, polished board-level materials and serve as a key liaison with the board and investors.
- Work closely with functional leaders to gather inputs for board and investor updates and manage sensitive matters with discretion.
- Partner with People and other departments to strengthen company culture, ensure organizational alignment, and foster engagement.
- Serve as a link between the executive team and the broader organization to translate strategic direction into a common understanding.
- Exemplify collaborative, rigorous, and accountable behavior that sets the standard for the leadership team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or similarly analytical fields, showing progressive responsibility.
- Proven ability to lead and resolve ambiguous, cross-functional problems toward concrete outcomes.
- Strong organizational and project management skills capable of handling multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience producing executive-level documents like board presentations and CEO remarks.
- Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and modern project management software.
- Sound judgment handling confidential and high-stakes information, exercising appropriate discretion.
- Consultative leadership style focused on influence rather than authority, marked by intellectual curiosity and agility in fast-paced environments.
- Experience within technology or software companies is advantageous.
- Background in military or public service is a plus.
- A bachelor's degree is mandatory; an MBA is highly preferred.
- Must be available to work onsite five days per week in the Washington, DC area.
