Key responsibilities

- Create and embed strong controls, governance arrangements, and reporting processes within a newly established entity.
- Own all reporting obligations for the managing director, group boards, head office, and external regulators.
- Manage treasury activity, cash flow, and procurement oversight.
- Direct budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling across a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Work closely with operational leaders to provide commercially focused financial advice and decision support.
- Oversee IT and cybersecurity activity alongside specialist technical leads.
- Maintain compliance with Irish financial reporting rules, corporate governance standards, and contractual financial covenants.
- Build finance systems, processes, and reporting infrastructure from the ground up, ensuring best-practice controls are in place from day one.
- Lead capital expenditure planning, asset investment decisions, and funding requirements for a large-scale operation.
- Contribute to international group finance initiatives and shared reporting structures across the wider organisation.
Requirements
- Professionally qualified accountant such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent qualification, with substantial senior finance leadership experience in a large and complex organisation.
- Hands-on background in transport operations, specifically bus, ferry, or rail.
- Prior experience operating at CFO, Finance Director, or a similar senior finance leadership level in a complex operational setting.
- Experience handling financial reporting across group structures or matrix organisations with several board-level stakeholders.
- Strong experience in financial governance, internal controls, and compliance within a contract-driven environment.
- Track record of establishing or reshaping a finance function in a new or changing entity.
- Good working knowledge of Irish GAAP, governance obligations, and statutory financial reporting requirements.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead a finance team in a demanding operational business.
- Strong commercial judgement and experience working as a partner to operational and senior leadership teams.
- Ability to work effectively and influence decisions within a complex, matrixed international organisation.
