Job description
Role overview
A growing and established services business in the North East of Ireland is looking for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to join its leadership team. This is a senior appointment for a finance executive who can work closely with the CEO as a trusted adviser and provide immediate, dependable insight into the company’s financial position.
The role will be central to improving financial discipline, enhancing reporting quality, and supporting the organisation’s expansion plans. The successful candidate will lead a finance team of around 10 people and ensure the business has timely, accurate financial data to guide day-to-day and strategic decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the CEO’s primary financial partner, giving live visibility into the organisation’s financial performance and health.
- Direct the finance department, managing a team of about 10 and building accountability, strong processes, and staff development.
- Produce detailed, high-quality reporting and analysis for leadership decision making.
- Take ownership of cash flow control, forecasting, and liquidity planning.
- Introduce and maintain effective financial controls, reporting structures, and core operational finance processes.
- Back the executive team on strategic projects such as future investments, acquisitions, and growth initiatives.
- Deliver financial insight across all business divisions so leaders can understand key drivers and risks.
- Partner with operational leaders to ensure financial information improves commercial decisions and business performance.
Candidate profile
We are seeking a senior finance leader, ideally already operating as a CFO or Finance Director, who has a strong background in managing finance functions within a fast-moving services environment.
- Substantial senior-level finance leadership experience, ideally in a multi-division services business.
- Proven expertise in financial reporting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing finance teams.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to translate financial data into strategic advice.
- Exposure to growth-focused work such as M&A, investment appraisal, or corporate development is an advantage.
- Confident leadership style with the credibility to act as a trusted adviser to the CEO and executive team.
Additional information
Candidates from a variety of sectors will be considered, although experience in service-led businesses or environments where financial insight directly supports operational performance will be especially relevant.
This is an important leadership role that offers the chance to influence the financial direction of a growing organisation and contribute to its next stage of development.
