Job description

Role overview

City Shift Finance is hiring a Chief AI Officer to shape and direct the company’s AI vision, product roadmap, and rollout strategy across both internal workflows and customer-facing environments. This senior leadership position will drive the growth of the organization’s AI capability, including proprietary systems, applied intelligence products, and operational technology aimed at improving workforce economics, financial transparency, business performance, and enterprise decision-making.

The company has already launched Surge, its in-house AI platform for operational and financial intelligence. That system is the starting point for a wider set of AI products planned across multiple industries, and this role will guide that expansion.

The position combines strategic and technical leadership, with responsibility for turning AI investments into measurable business and financial results.

Responsibilities

  • Create and own the enterprise AI strategy for the firm.
  • Direct the design, development, and deployment of AI systems.
  • Shape infrastructure choices that support AI delivery and scale.
  • Lead and coordinate technical teams working on AI initiatives.
  • Assess third-party AI tools, cloud services, and vendor partnerships.
  • Set governance, privacy, security, and responsible-use standards for AI adoption.
  • Identify and prioritize new AI use cases across consulting and advisory services.
  • Ensure AI programs are aligned with organizational goals and produce clear operational and financial value.

Requirements

  • Senior-level or executive experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, or enterprise software development.
  • A demonstrated history of building, launching, and scaling AI solutions in real-world environments.
  • Background in AI product strategy, enterprise implementation, and system development.
  • Solid knowledge of large language models, agentic systems, workflow automation, retrieval systems, and applied AI infrastructure.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across AI, engineering, or product functions.
  • Strong command of AI governance, data privacy, security, and responsible deployment practices.
  • Good business judgment with the ability to connect AI initiatives to organizational priorities and ROI.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid setup across California and Nevada.
  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, data science, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent experience may be accepted.
  • Experience assessing external AI platforms, cloud infrastructure, and vendor relationships.
