Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA/CCMA) - Full Time, Onsite at Iredell Occupational Medicine

Position Overview

We are seeking a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant to deliver direct patient care and clinical support within our busy outpatient medical facility. This role demands adherence to high standards of patient safety, exceptional customer service, and regulatory compliance. Eligible candidates must possess a current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification granted by an accredited body.

Core Clinical Duties

• Accurately record vital signs including weight, height, and patient medical histories.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms according to cleanliness and infection control protocols.
• Support healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Conduct tests such as EKGs, spirometry, vision assessments, wound care, ear lavage, and other point-of-care diagnostics.
• Administer immunizations and medications following established standing orders.
• Perform venipuncture and collect laboratory specimens.
• Track and communicate laboratory and diagnostic results appropriately.
• Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of all specimens.
• Manage clinical supply inventory and verify product expiration dates.

Patient Interaction & Support

• Welcome patients professionally, focusing on patient-centered care.
• Review patient medication lists, allergies, and health maintenance requirements.
• Educate patients and provide post-care instructions and follow-up support.
• Assist with care coordination and referral processes.

Administrative and Compliance Responsibilities

• Document all clinical activities within the electronic health records system in real time.
• Participate actively in team huddles, quality improvement projects, and compliance evaluations.
• Maintain required certifications, ongoing education, and clinical competencies.
• Adhere strictly to OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and emergency preparedness guidelines.
• Support administrative functions including chart preparation, appointment scheduling, and population health management.

Job Requirements

• Mandatory certification as a Medical Assistant: CMA, RMA, or CCMA from an accredited institution.
• Preferably experienced in Occupational Medicine.
• Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Possess a valid BLS/CPR certification or be able to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Exhibit proven clinical skills and competence.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration abilities.

Physical Demands

• Capability to stand, walk, and assist patients for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as required by the job duties.

Reporting and Team Structure

• Reports directly to the Practice Manager or Clinical Supervisor.
• Collaborates closely with healthcare providers, Patient Service Representatives, Population Health Teams, and Network Leadership.
