Category Manager - Pharmaceutical Industry (12-Month Contract)

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Category Manager with extensive procurement experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device sectors for a 12-month contractual engagement. This remote position supports a leading global pharmaceutical company, focused on steering category strategy and managing key supplier relationships within a strictly regulated life sciences industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Devise and execute category sourcing plans aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead strategic sourcing processes including RFx events, supplier evaluation, and contractual negotiations.
• Oversee supplier performance and foster collaboration with stakeholders across diverse business units.
• Recognize opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining quality standards, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted supply.
• Contribute to procurement transformation projects and promote continuous improvements.
• Manage procurement initiatives in compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.

Experience and Qualifications

• Documented success as a Category Manager, Strategic Sourcing Manager, Procurement Manager, or Senior Buyer within life sciences segments.
• Expertise in procurement specifically in Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, or related Life Sciences organizations.
• Demonstrated history of freelance or contract roles delivering procurement projects with measurable results.
• Proficient at handling high-value sourcing engagements and supplier negotiations.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence and manage stakeholders across multinational teams.
• Knowledge and experience within regulated environments including GxP, GMP, FDA, EMA, or analogous standards.
