About Us
Presbyterian Support Central (PSC) is a nonprofit organisation with over 115 years dedicated to assisting individuals during vulnerable periods in their lives. Our two key service branches are:
- Enliven: Provides positive ageing services focused on fostering community and quality of life for older adults through companionship, choice, and meaningful activities.
- Family Works: Offers social services including counselling and support programs addressing the needs of children and families.
The Enliven Bureau team plays a crucial role by providing casual support to our residential homes during times of leave, absences, or increased demand, ensuring consistent and seamless care for our elders across homes in Wellington, including Karori, Tawa, Johnsonville, and Lower Hutt.
Role Overview
We are seeking casual Health Care Assistants to join the Enliven Bureau, primarily to support the Levin Home for War Veterans, which offers Rest Home, Hospital, and Dementia care. Availability for shifts in other homes is a plus. Shifts include mornings, afternoons, and nights throughout the week.
You will become part of a collaborative Enliven team dedicated to delivering exceptional person-centered care, ensuring residents live in a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment. Flexibility and a shared commitment to high-quality care are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with daily living activities and care to elderly residents.
- Promote independence and empower residents to make their own choices.
- Deliver tailored, high-standard support sensitive to individual needs.
- Adhere to health and safety policies and encourage their observance.
- Work under the guidance and supervision of Registered Nurses.
- Meet resident needs promptly and effectively.
Candidate Profile
We seek a motivated individual passionate about the well-being of older adults, organized, dependable, and patient with excellent interpersonal abilities. You should embody our core values of empathy, compassion, and respect while practicing a person-centered approach and maintaining high standards of care. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for this role.
- At least two years’ experience as a Health Care Assistant.
- Possession of or actively pursuing a Health & Wellbeing Certificate Level 2 or higher.
- A genuine passion for supporting elders' well-being.
- Strong organizational skills and team-oriented attitude.
- Good verbal communication and accurate documentation skills.
- Comfortable using computers for digital record-keeping.
