About the Role
Freedom invites applications for a Buyer position supporting procurement activities within our Network Services business located in the North of England. This full-time permanent role is based in Leeds or Stowmarket, offering a hybrid working arrangement. You will be instrumental in managing procurement processes to deliver optimal value on contracts by collaborating closely with operational teams and supply chain partners, enhancing performance, cost control, and ongoing improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold compliance with Health & Safety procedures, fostering a culture prioritizing safety.
- Lead and assist supplier performance assessments to verify SLA adherence and implement enhancements.
- Partner with operational teams ensuring suppliers and subcontractors provide best value.
- Contribute procurement insights, pricing information, and supply chain expertise during tender processes.
- Drive continuous improvements across procurement and supply chain operations.
- Formulate and execute procurement strategies aligned with contractual needs.
- Manage procurement tasks such as tenders, negotiations, and order placements.
- Coordinate with operational personnel to develop procurement plans and schedules.
- Support delivery of cost-saving measures, margin enhancements, and rebate objectives.
- Generate procurement reports and aid in the creation of contract performance dashboards.
- Participate in contract review meetings, ensuring follow-up on agreed actions.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in procurement or buying, preferably within construction, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proficient knowledge of supplier management and performance evaluation.
- Experience in supporting or leading tendering and negotiation activities.
- Strong commercial insight focused on cost management and value enhancement.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to collaborate efficiently with operational teams and supply chain associates.
- Good organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
