Job description
About the Role
Join a dynamic finance team where you don’t just report numbers, but actively shape business decisions. As a Business Finance Specialist for the Food vertical, you will serve as the finance partner to the Food General Manager, collaborating closely with Commercial teams as well as Finance, Strategy, Product, and Marketing departments. Your role involves challenging commission rates, modeling partnerships, analyzing margins, and proactively communicating P&L insights to leadership ahead of meetings. If you prefer influencing strategic discussions over passively reviewing reports, this opportunity is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely alongside the Food GM as the primary finance partner during commercial steering meetings, strategic discussions, and critical business decision sessions.
- Take full ownership of the Food P&L, analyzing revenue, commission rates, contribution margins, and overall financial performance.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to develop restaurant strategies, commission models, and actionable joint business plans.
- Challenge commercial assumptions with rigorous data analysis to ensure decisions are backed by accurate numbers.
- Translate complex P&L figures into concise, actionable narratives for GMs and executive leadership.
- Lead financial evaluations for new initiatives including commission tiers, exclusivity agreements, deal launches, and marketing co-investments, focusing on ROI, payback, and risk assessment.
- Co-manage promotional strategies with Commercial teams by modeling discount impacts, basket economics, customer lifetime value, and margin trade-offs.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities within the Food P&L before they materialize in actual results, recommending corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain business intelligence tools and dashboards that provide clear, self-service insights from complex commercial data streams.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong background in FP&A, commercial finance, or business partnering, with proven ability to be a trusted finance advisor to commercial leaders.
- Expertise in revenue modeling, unit economics, take-rate analysis, and margin management.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets; comfortable managing large and complex datasets.
- Excellent storytelling skills with data and confident presence to effectively communicate with GMs and senior leadership.
- Constructive and assertive mindset, comfortable questioning narratives when data suggests otherwise.
- Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous, and high-growth environments, with ability to build processes on the fly.
Preferred Experience
- Seven or more years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or business finance, ideally within food delivery, quick commerce, marketplaces, e-commerce, or other consumer technology sectors.
- Deep understanding of restaurant economics, pricing strategies, promotional mechanisms, and customer incentives impacting margin performance.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise planning software (such as TM1 or IBM Planning Analytics) and business intelligence platforms (including Power BI or Tableau).
