About the Role
Are you passionate about food and data-driven problem solving? The Merchant Operations Business Analytics (MOBA) team is seeking a Business Analyst to spearhead research and analysis efforts, helping to innovate and shape the future of grocery for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, develop, and sustain dashboards tracking business metrics to evaluate the success of omnichannel pricing and promotional strategies to guide business decisions.
- Craft robust SQL queries to access and analyze data on pricing, promotions, customer purchasing behaviors, and customer insights, understanding and effectively utilizing Amazon's diverse data assets.
- Transform data from SQL and from dashboards developed by other BI teams into actionable insights and tailored recommendations for business stakeholders.
- Present findings clearly through compelling data visualizations and presentations to relevant parties.
- Tackle new, ambiguous challenges with novel solutions and innovative approaches.
- Keep updated with current best practices and emerging trends in analytics methods.
About the Team
The MOBA team operates within the broader category management group responsible for assortment, pricing, and promotions influencing profit and loss. The role involves collaborating across teams including technology, grocery science, economics, marketing, customer insights, and other grocery segments at Amazon, fostering a dynamic, action-oriented environment that supports Amazon's grocery vision.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in tax, finance, or related analytical roles.
- Over 5 years' proficiency in Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, Power Pivot) and data visualization tools such as Tableau.
- At least 3 years of experience in business or financial analysis.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Proven ability to define requirements and leverage data metrics to generate business insights.
- Strong SQL querying skills.
- Experience delivering business recommendations and influencing decision-makers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience as a business analyst or data analyst.
- Advanced skills in Excel and Tableau including data manipulation, macros, charts, and pivot tables.

Compensation & Benefits:
The salary for this role varies by location and ranges from $74,300 to $143,100 annually, supplemented with sign-on bonuses and restricted stock units (RSUs). Comprehensive benefits include health insurance covering medical, dental, vision, mental health support, 401(k) matching, paid leave, parental benefits, and more.
Office Locations & Salary Ranges:
- New York, NY: $81,700 - $143,100 per year
- Arlington, VA: $74,300 - $130,100 per year
- Seattle, WA: $82,700 - $130,100 per year
