About the Role
This is a seasonal contractual position with Amazon within the Appeals team, part of the eXperience and Technology Departures unit. As an Appeals Specialist, you will support Amazon employees and alumni through their appeals journey, upholding confidentiality, integrity, and ethical standards. This role demands strong analytical skills, critical thinking, exceptional customer service, clear communication, and excellent organizational ability to thrive in a dynamic HR setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage detailed analytical abilities and comprehensive knowledge of Amazon policy to determine necessary documentation for appeal cases.
- Evaluate documents for precision and historical precedent.
- Detect any procedural shortcomings and suggest corrective actions.
- Investigate disciplinary actions thoroughly, assessing fairness and consistency of policy application based on evidence and statements from employees and witnesses.
Basic Requirements
- Minimum of three years in HR or an HR shared service center environment.
- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
- Skilled in managing customer issues effectively under pressure.
- Experience handling confidential information discreetly and interacting professionally with senior executives.
- Capability to handle workloads efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
- Strong analytical mindset, high attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a genuine customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over four years of experience in HR or related shared services.
- Advanced analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, with strong communication competence.
- Familiarity with HR processes and technology systems.
- Knowledge of database technologies like NoSQL and Big Data tools including Hive, Spark, HBase, and Yarn.
- Experience working with multilingual speech and text data.
