Job description
Role overview
This Business Analyst position sits within the Current Accounts Change Team in CAPL Technology for Retail Banking. The role supports transformation work across current account products and the related customer experience journeys. You will serve as the link between business stakeholders and technology teams, making sure requirements are captured accurately, prioritised appropriately, and delivered using Agile ways of working.
The role is based in Knutsford, with a hybrid working model. Day-to-day working locations will depend on the needs of the role and the business, and may include company offices, client sites, and home working. Full-time home working is not available.
Key responsibilities
You will lead requirements work from the Epic stage through to Features and User Stories. This includes working with Product Owners and stakeholders to gather, shape, document, and confirm business needs. You will write clear user stories with strong acceptance criteria and produce supporting analysis materials such as current-state and future-state process maps, wireframes, and context diagrams.
You will also take part in Agile delivery ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. In addition, you will help Product Owners rank backlog items according to business value and delivery objectives.
On the solution side, you will collaborate with Solution Architects and Engineering teams to ensure proposed designs are practical and aligned to the stated requirements. You will also support change control and governance, following Retail Banking CAPL demand and governance processes, and keep requirements up to date in JIRA across Epics, Capabilities, Features, and Stories.
Essential skills and experience
The role calls for strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, along with confidence working across both high-level and detailed requirement layers. You should have practical experience with Agile delivery, especially Scrum, and be comfortable using JIRA and Confluence.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are important, as is the ability to produce well-structured user stories, acceptance criteria, and process documentation. Familiarity with Better Backlogs and an understanding of current account products, including overdrafts and associated customer journeys, would be an advantage.
