Position Overview

This full-time role based in London seeks a seasoned Business Analyst with over 10 years of experience, specializing in insurance-related domains, particularly in underwriting tooling and (re)insurance. The analyst will play a pivotal role in requirement gathering, stakeholder engagement, story authoring, and cross-functional collaboration within Agile teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Gather and clarify requirements from diverse users, projects, and underwriting tooling teams, utilizing impact checklists to identify affected systems.
  • Transform brief requests into well-defined epics and user stories, clearly outlining scope and outstanding decisions.
  • Maintain strong engagement with end-users such as DataOps and Underwriters to ensure client-focused solutions.
  • Create user stories with comprehensive acceptance criteria following the As a / I want / So that and Given / When / Then formats.
  • Manage ticket progress through stages including analysis, high and low level refinements, ensuring Definition of Ready standards are met.
  • Document field dictionaries, journey alternatives, system-specific behaviors, and explicitly flag external dependencies.
  • Ensure consistent domain vocabulary, specify business rules for various roles, and map identifiers impacted by changes to support clear API and event contract definitions.
  • Develop and maintain detailed Confluence feature pages encompassing business context, workflows, dependencies, and functional overviews.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as refinements, demos, retrospectives, and planning; assist with incident validation and bug triage requiring business input.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing and coordinate changes affecting event schemas and go-live activities.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst within Agile/Scrum environments focusing on story writing, refinement, and backlog readiness.
  • Proficient at stakeholder facilitation across product, operations, and engineering teams.
  • Comfortable working with data-intensive domains and creating clear acceptance criteria and process mappings using tools like Miro and Confluence.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across different time zones within an open, feedback-oriented team culture.
  • Experience in insurance or reinsurance sectors, or familiarity with Lloyd's or underwriting tooling, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Jira workflows related to analysis, refinement, and backlog management and experience specifying API/event contracts and data mappings is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and JSON schemas for validation purposes is advantageous.
  • Professional documentation skills, proactive communication style, and ability to separate business outcomes from technical implementation are valued.

Benefits and Culture

  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits plan.
  • Supportive environment emphasizing talent growth, featuring quarterly promotion opportunities and sponsored educational programs and certifications.
  • Engagement in innovation with access to cutting-edge technologies.
  • Employee-focused initiatives such as social gatherings, flexible working hours, and recognition for long service.
  • Annual comprehensive health check-ups and insurance coverage including group term life, personal accident, and Mediclaim for employees and family members.

Inclusivity and Work Arrangements

  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion with encouragement for applicants from all backgrounds, including persons with disabilities.
  • Hybrid work options and flexible hours to meet personal needs.
  • Accessible facilities equipped with ergonomic and assistive technologies in the workplace.
  • Open communication channels for accommodation requests at any employment stage.

Company Values
