Role overview

This full-time permanent position is based at Tuatara Brewery in Upper Hutt, New Zealand. The role sits within the HEINEKEN family through DB Breweries and offers the chance to work across multiple parts of the brewery while contributing to the production of beer, cider, and RTDs.

What the job involves

The Brewing Technician supports day-to-day brewery operations and helps maintain product quality, supply continuity, and a strong production standard. The role is hands-on and provides exposure to several brewery functions while working with a skilled team.

This position follows a 40-hour work week on a 4-week rotating shift roster. Shift timings include early brewing from 4:30am to 1:00pm, afternoon brewing from 11:00am to 7:30pm, and filtration/cellaring shifts from 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Run brewing, cider, and RTD production activities to a high operational standard.
  • Coordinate with planning, inventory, and packaging teams to help achieve production targets.
  • Perform quality control checks and contribute to keeping the brewery operating smoothly.
  • Support equipment maintenance and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work across rotating shifts covering brewing, filtration, and cellaring tasks.

Requirements

  • Secondary school education plus either a relevant tertiary qualification at Level 4 or above, or 2 to 3 years of experience in FMCG or maintenance.
  • Experience in brewing, biotechnology, engineering, or improvement methods such as TPM, Lean, or Six Sigma is an advantage.
  • Comfort working in a team-based, fast-moving manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts across different brewery areas.
