Role overview
This permanent full-time role sits within a busy hospital administration setting at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. The position focuses on coordinating bookings, elective admissions and waiting lists, while also providing courteous and efficient support to patients, clinicians and other stakeholders.
Working arrangement
Employment is offered as 2 permanent full-time roles, with a 38-hour work week. The classification is Administration Officer Level 3 and the annual pay range is $71,072.43 to $73,287.41.
Work location
The role is based at Blacktown & Mt Druitt Hospital in Sydney, New South Wales. It is part of the Admissions and Bookings Office and supports a fast-moving healthcare environment.
Team and environment
You will join a professional and supportive administration team that works closely with medical, nursing and allied health colleagues. The role contributes to improving patient access, elective surgery pathways and the overall patient experience in a multicultural Western Sydney community.
Key duties
- Manage elective bookings, clinic schedules and theatre bookings.
- Process Recommendation for Admission forms and keep electronic waiting lists up to date.
- Communicate with patients through phone, email and mail regarding bookings and admissions.
- Work with internal teams and external healthcare providers to support admission processes.
- Review and audit waiting lists in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, data entry and confidentiality at all times.

Selection criteria
- Experience with admissions and booking workflows.
- Experience using computerised patient administration systems.
- Working knowledge of the NSW Health Waiting Time and Elective Surgery Policy.
- Background in customer service with effective interpersonal communication.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong time management and organisational capability for competing deadlines.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
