Job description
Role overview
This contract opportunity is with a client and is fully remote. The position is for a Biology Subject Matter Expert focused on AI training and scientific content. The selected professional will use biology expertise to help improve AI systems by reviewing, validating, and refining biological information so the models produce more accurate and better-reasoned outputs.
Compensation
Pay is listed at $20 to $40 per hour.
What you will do
- Examine biological datasets, learning materials, and scientific documents, then add expert notes, annotations, and feedback.
- Draft, review, and edit lab reports, research articles, field-study writeups, and technical materials to ensure they are precise and easy to understand.
- Build and improve prompts, queries, and structured datasets that help AI systems interpret biological concepts more effectively.
- Spot errors, missing information, and unclear statements in AI-generated biology content, and provide clear corrections and guidance.
- Work closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to produce outputs that match project goals.
- Prepare educational and reference content that can be used for model training, benchmarking, and validation.
- Keep up with developments in biology, life sciences, and new scientific research.
Requirements
Applicants should have a bachelor's, master's, or PhD in Biology, Life Sciences, or a closely related field. The role also calls for experience writing lab reports, peer-reviewed papers, scientific research documents, or field-study reports. A solid grasp of biology, experimental methods, and research techniques is essential, along with the ability to analyze and interpret data from experiments or literature. Strong scientific writing, verbal communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting are all important.
Preferred background
Experience with scientific literature, educational content, or technical documentation is a plus. Backgrounds in research, academia, biotechnology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences are also desirable. Familiarity with cross-disciplinary projects and remote teamwork will be helpful, and an interest in improving AI systems through high-quality scientific work is valued.
Additional information
This is a contractor role. Prior AI experience is not required; the main qualification is strong biology expertise paired with clear scientific communication.
