Job Overview
Join SSP America as a Barista working at the Starbucks location within Ottawa International Airport. This full-time role offers a comprehensive benefits package and free employee parking, with an hourly wage of $19.12. Baristas play an essential role in delivering high-quality beverage service, helping travelers get their much-needed caffeine fix.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers warmly and courteously.
- Accurately process customer orders using the point-of-sale system and manage payment transactions.
- Prepare and serve a variety of cold, frozen, and hot drinks alongside a selection of food items, following recipes and portion controls.
- Complete required opening, ongoing, and closing checklists to maintain operational standards.
- Carry out cleaning duties with appropriate products to uphold health and safety regulations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least one year of experience in a food service setting.
- Previous barista experience is desirable; experience working specifically at Starbucks is advantageous.
- Completion of high school education is preferred.
- Proficiency in English to communicate effectively with guests; French language skills are an asset.
- Memory skills to recall and promote an array of menu offerings.
- Ability to operate keyboards and POS systems to process transactions and close orders.
- Physical capability to stand and work in confined areas for extended periods.
- Must pass a Transport Canada five-year background check.
Additional Information
This position requires working in a secure airport environment. Applicants must possess or be able to obtain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) and legally authorized to work in Canada. Government-issued documentation for airport security clearance will be verified during onboarding, following Transport Canada regulations.
