This role sits within Asset & Wealth Management’s Private Credit platform in Mumbai. The team combines traditional and alternative investment strategies and partners with clients globally to support long-term performance. The business oversees more than $2 trillion in assets under supervision and works across investors, advisors, thought leadership, and digital solutions to help clients navigate complex financial objectives.

The platform covers a wide range of strategies, including direct lending, opportunistic investing, and structured investments across debt and equity.

The investment teams originate, execute, and manage opportunities across the credit spectrum, including senior, mezzanine, and hybrid capital solutions. These strategies support sponsor-backed transactions, businesses seeking flexible capital, and investments across the capital structure.

What the Associate Will Do

Associates work in compact deal teams and take part in identifying opportunities, conducting diligence, structuring transactions, executing investments, and tracking portfolio performance across multiple sectors and stages of the credit process.

Responsibilities

• Help source and develop investment ideas across the credit product set by engaging early with relevant market participants such as financial sponsors and management teams.
• Carry out detailed diligence across financial, legal, commercial, technical, and ESG dimensions to sharpen the investment case.
• Contribute to structuring, negotiation, and documentation of transactions.
• Present and justify investment views to internal stakeholders and investment committees, including the Private Credit Investment Committee.
• Monitor live investments closely, including board-observer participation and regular interaction with management teams and shareholders.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with founders, sponsors, management teams, and internal stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

The preferred background includes 3 to 6 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, leveraged finance, or private credit, ideally in Asian markets. Applicants should have a strong academic record and a degree in Finance, Economics, Management, Business Studies, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field from a well-regarded institution.

The role calls for strong quantitative ability, financial modelling, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, along with a genuine interest in investing and evaluating businesses and sectors. Clear verbal and written communication, independent judgment, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to build relationships with a range of people are also important.
