This role offers the chance to join an expanding academic otolaryngology service and residency training environment. The incoming faculty member will work alongside an established senior neurotologist whose practice is active and well developed, serving tertiary otologic and neurotologic patients. The neurotology section also includes two full-time audiologists who support detailed diagnostic hearing and vestibular testing, along with implant center programming.
Key Duties
The position combines clinical care, teaching, and scholarship. The faculty member will provide patient care, perform surgical work, teach Otolaryngology residents as well as learners from other residency programs and the medical school, and participate in both inpatient and outpatient clinical care. Research activity is also expected, including clinical research and/or basic science work. The role requires taking call and obtaining privileges at multiple hospitals in the Las Vegas area.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree and must have finished an ACGME-accredited residency before the employment start date. Board eligibility or board certification in Otolaryngology is required; if the candidate is board eligible, board certification must be completed within two years of hire. Candidates must also qualify for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, maintain malpractice insurance, and be able to secure credentialing at Southern Nevada teaching hospitals and/or clinics. Final selection will depend on background check clearance.
Rank, Appointment, and Review
Educational background, terminal degree status, academic medical experience, or equivalent experience will be considered when determining the recommended rank. The School of Medicine Faculty Appointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee will apply the school’s promotion standards to advise the Dean on rank. Tenure may be considered at the time of hire on a case-by-case basis, depending on verified prior credentials, committee recommendation, and the Dean’s recommendation.
