Job description

About QNB Group

Founded in 1964 as Qatar’s first commercial bank owned by Qatari interests, QNB Group has expanded into the largest banking institution across the Middle East and Africa. Through subsidiaries and associate entities, the group operates in more than 31 countries spanning three continents, offering a broad portfolio of advanced banking products and services. It employs over 28,000 people, serves up to 20 million customers, and operates from around 1,000 locations supported by an ATM network of 4,300 machines.

The bank is consistently rated among the top regional banks by major credit rating agencies such as Standard & Poor’s (A), Moody’s (Aa3), and Fitch (A+). It has also received recognition from respected international financial publications and is currently ranked as the most valuable bank brand in the Middle East and Africa by Brand Finance Magazine. QNB Group also runs an active community support initiative and sponsors a range of social, educational, and sporting events.

Role Summary

This position supports the SVP/VP in building a Lean-driven culture across QNB Group. The role leads and coordinates the group’s Lean and Six Sigma agenda within the Innovation department, while also owning a portfolio of Lean transformation projects across the international network with limited day-to-day supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver operational excellence, reengineering, and end-to-end process improvement initiatives within the assigned scope, while also supporting relevant divisions across QNB Group.
  • Help define and roll out Lean, Six Sigma, change management, and process improvement standards across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics and KPIs to monitor results and assess quality for improvement initiatives on a recurring basis.
  • Promote efficiency, cost awareness, waste reduction, and productivity gains to support better value delivery for the bank.
  • Coach and train designated internal multipliers on the methodology and ensure effective knowledge transfer.
  • Work closely with business and support units as a transformation partner, leading process improvement projects with cross-functional representation.
  • Create awareness of customer orientation, quality, and efficiency across QNB Group, and help identify new solutions or processes that can be embedded into operations.
  • Engage with the SVP/VP to obtain new mandates, participate in idea generation, project selection, and scoping, and support strategic initiative delivery.
  • Assess and prioritize improvement opportunities by identifying benefits, defining target outcomes, and setting measurement criteria.
  • Manage multiple projects or lead larger ones, ensuring work is controlled through the DMAIC framework.
  • Keep projects on schedule and within budget while ensuring the expected outcomes are achieved.
  • Apply industry best practices and standards throughout process improvement assignments.
  • Analyze data and trends to spot opportunities, risks, and root causes, and perform statistical process analysis.
  • Advise and guide teams on change management, process redesign, performance improvement tools, and statistical/data analysis techniques.
  • Coach internal improvement teams to further develop Lean and Six Sigma capabilities across the group.
  • Contribute to the deployment of other performance improvement approaches as needed.
  • Support professional growth by identifying development needs for self and subordinates, and by providing guidance, direction, and training.
  • Stay current with developments in the field and pursue relevant professional development.
  • Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory, and internal compliance requirements, including AML & CTF, sanctions, data protection, fraud control, whistleblowing, conflict of interest, and insider dealing policies.
  • Perform duties under the Three Lines of Defence framework and support risk identification, monitoring, management, and reporting.
  • Help maintain conduct risk standards and support RCSA, KRI, incident reporting, and remediation processes where relevant.
  • Complete mandatory bank training, maintain required competency levels, and attend required seminars.
  • Protect confidential and commercially sensitive information and share it only on a need-to-know basis with authorized internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain high professional standards and perform any additional ad hoc duties requested by management.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from a leading academic institution, preferably with a focus on business administration.
  • At least 10 years of experience in organization and process reengineering, business consulting, and project management, or equivalent experience in financial services operations; the background should be broad and cross-functional rather than limited to one specialization.
  • Strong experience in operations and project management, including the ability to direct large-scale projects and manage change effectively.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt with a minimum of 5 years of experience and strong technical mastery.
  • Proven use of Lean Six Sigma principles and practices in a professional setting.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a lead instructor for Black Belt and/or Green Belt training.
  • Experience mentoring at least five Lean Six Sigma projects from initiation through closure.
  • Strong leadership capability, with evidence of career progression and team development potential.
  • Solid understanding of financial services operations and support functions.
