Role overview
The Quality Specialist will support the hospital’s quality management efforts and help ensure that clinical and operational practices align with CBAHI and other applicable healthcare accreditation requirements. The role involves tracking quality measures, supporting audits, contributing to patient safety work, and assisting with continuous improvement activities.
Department and reporting line
Department: Quality Management
Reports to: Quality Manager / Director of Quality
Key responsibilities
- Support the rollout and day-to-day monitoring of the hospital’s Quality Management Program.
- Help ensure adherence to CBAHI standards, internal policies, and relevant healthcare regulations.
- Contribute to accreditation readiness efforts and survey preparation activities.
- Carry out internal audits and identify performance or compliance gaps.
- Track quality indicators (KPIs), review trends, and prepare recurring reports.
- Assist with incident review, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Draft, revise, and maintain hospital policies and procedures as needed.
- Coordinate quality improvement initiatives across different departments.
- Support patient safety programs and related risk management tasks.
- Deliver staff awareness and training sessions focused on quality and patient safety.
- Gather, verify, and evaluate quality data for management reporting.
- Participate in quality committees and cross-functional meetings.
- Follow up on corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) until closure.
- Maintain accurate quality records and documentation control.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree is required in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory, Applied Medical Sciences, or a related healthcare discipline. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in hospital-based healthcare quality work in Saudi Arabia, including exposure to CBAHI accreditation, internal auditing, quality improvement, patient safety, and accreditation survey preparation. Valid SCFHS registration is required if it applies to the profession. CPHQ certification is preferred, and Lean Six Sigma or ISO certification will be considered an added advantage.
Skills and capabilities
The role calls for a strong working knowledge of CBAHI standards and healthcare quality management systems, along with practical use of quality improvement tools such as PDCA, RCA, and FMEA. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with KPI analysis, reporting, policy writing, presentation delivery, cross-team coordination, and Microsoft Office tools. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability are also important.
