About the Role
Marist University's Athletics Department is seeking a full-time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach who will also serve as the Head Football Performance Coach. Reporting to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, this 12-month position supports 23 NCAA Division I varsity teams competing within The Metro Conference. The coach will develop and deliver strength and conditioning regimens for assigned sports, track athlete progress, coordinate with head coaches on performance objectives, and provide dietary guidance. This role includes oversight of weight room equipment maintenance and intern management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and conduct daily training sessions with assigned varsity teams in the weight room.
- Educate student-athletes on strength and conditioning principles and techniques.
- Develop and administer rehabilitation programs aligned with Sports Medicine staff clearances.
- Lead Conditioning, Speed, Agility, and Quickness drills on both courts and playing fields.
- Create comprehensive year-round athletic training programs incorporating weight training, conditioning, and speed development.
- Collaborate with sport coaches to assess team physical needs and integrate tailored training strategies.
- Provide individualized consultations with athletes to establish and implement personal performance goals.
- Maintain continuous communication with coaches and Sports Medicine on athlete progress, especially regarding injury recovery.
- Report concerns regarding athletes, interns, or staff to the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for resolution.
- Manage daily operational aspects including logging and removing malfunctioning equipment from use.
- Recruit, schedule, supervise, and evaluate interns assisting in the department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related discipline is required.
- Professional certification such as NSCA CSCS or CSCCa, SCCC is mandatory.
- One to three years of relevant experience in strength and conditioning roles preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license without major infractions.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Exercise Science or related field is advantageous.
Professional Development
- Maintain current certification with a nationally accredited strength and conditioning organization.
- Complete Evidence Based Practice continuing education units regularly.
- Attend conferences and seminars, either virtually or in person, to remain current in training methodologies.
- Keep Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications active.
- Engage actively in Athletics Department initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $63,000 to $68,000 annually.
- Paid vacation starting at 3 weeks, increasing to 4 weeks after six years of employment.

Work Schedule and Location
