Role Overview

The Videographer/Assistant Director of Digital Content Production is tasked with fulfilling the photo and video requirements for the Office of Communications and Marketing, with a primary focus on video creation and editing. This role demands a creative storyteller capable of producing visually appealing and technically accurate photo and video materials for diverse platforms, utilizing independent judgment to craft content that resonates with both internal university members and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Independently capture video and photographic content of university events, individuals, and locations, utilizing creative decision-making to effectively narrate the Marist University story.
  • Execute video editing processes to meet the visual expectations of specific projects or marketing campaigns using relevant computer software.
  • Co-manage the university's YouTube channel by organizing playlists, suggesting videos, and adding closed captions and descriptive information to enhance accessibility and engagement.
  • Edit photographic content to align with project goals or campaigns, including embedding appropriate metadata and keywords.
  • Collaborate actively within the Digital Content Production team to suggest new ideas, contribute creatively to storytelling, and aid in expanding the Marist brand through digital assets.
  • Build and maintain strong connections with faculty, staff, and students to identify fresh opportunities for photography and videography.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the department.

Requirements

  • At least two years of professional experience in video production or equivalent experience accumulated through internships, freelance projects, student productions, or related work.
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative video content across multiple formats such as promotional videos, testimonials, profiles, campus tours, and event summaries within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Exhibit independent and thoughtful creative decision-making throughout all stages of video production.
  • Technical proficiency in video production including correct camera exposure, appropriate lighting for interviews, and microphone setup.
  • Experienced in video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro, capable of color correction, audio mixing, and exporting videos in various codecs and sizes.
  • Detail-oriented in managing files and digital assets efficiently.
  • Basic skills in still photography shooting and editing.
  • Positive, cooperative attitude with colleagues and subjects involved in video projects.
  • Keen interest in continuous learning and openness to constructive feedback.
  • Ability to direct video participants respectfully yet assertively.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable in ambiguous or changing work conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for occasional local and regional travel.
  • Bachelor's degree in video production, filmmaking, or a closely related field.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Adobe After Effects.
  • Possession of an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot License.
