Position Overview

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking an Assistant Director of IT Support for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine. This leadership role reports to the Director of IT Operations and oversees the Service Desk, Field Support, and Endpoint Lifecycle Management teams. The position is committed to delivering dependable, customer-focused technology services to faculty, students, staff, medical professionals, and the community while fostering continuous improvements in IT support and aligning with the institution's goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership to IT support teams, including Service Desk and Field Support.
  • Establish and monitor service expectations and performance metrics.
  • Support staff development through supervision, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with UNLV Health, clinical practice groups, and campus IT partners to ensure efficient, consistent support services.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall technology support experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience (four additional years of relevant experience or associate degree plus two years relevant experience).
  • At least five years of relevant experience including three years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Experience in higher education, medical schools, or similar professional programs.
  • Proven management of Service Desk, Field Support, or endpoint support teams.
  • Skill in designing and executing service delivery strategies and continuous improvement.
  • Track record in coaching and developing technical support personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years in leadership positions within IT support.
  • Certification in ITIL and Microsoft Fundamentals (e.g., MCSE, MOS).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $101,700 to $116,200 annually.
