Job description
Role Summary
As the Assistant Director for Finance Operations at the Air Force Training Command (AFTC), you will oversee and manage the entirety of the Command's financial functions. This includes ensuring precise budget adherence, responsible use of public funds, and improving financial process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage budgeting activities across the Command to guarantee proper and sufficient use of the allocated funds.
- Act as the Audit Liaison Officer, facilitating finance audits, educating units on typical audit issues, and implementing strong internal controls.
- Evaluate and streamline financial workflows to provide an efficient and smooth financial management experience.
- Deliver monthly expenditure reports to assist units in tracking spending and budget consumption.
- Create dashboards that highlight critical financial insights to support organizational goals.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design finance policies that ensure compliance, effectiveness, and flexibility.
- Engage in the RSAF Finance Community's broader initiatives focused on innovation within finance operations.
Challenges
- Managing complex multi-domain policies beyond finance to support units in meeting their operational targets, requiring adaptability and eagerness to learn.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of financial policies for accurate implementation.
- Balancing the role’s responsibilities with support for RSAF-wide events, including overseas exercises.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Academic background in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Preferably over 6 years of experience in financial operations, budget planning, and financial governance roles.
- Familiarity with costing techniques, resource optimization, performance management, financial analysis, and business partnering.
- Advantageous to have proficiency with financial software systems and data visualization tools for dashboard creation and expenditure analysis.
- Self-driven with strong initiative to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Positive mindset with commitment to personal growth.
- Excellent collaborative skills with a strong team focus.
