Job description
Position Overview
Join as an Assistant Designer working alongside Primark's Buying and Merchandising teams to convert emerging trends into commercial fashion products, specifically in menswear. Collaborate with Designers and cross-functional teams to develop innovative and global fashion ranges aligned with the Primark brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct trend research and forecasting to identify and translate new style directions into viable product concepts.
- Assist Designers in creating trend-forward, commercially successful product lines.
- Coordinate closely with Buyers, Merchandisers, and Design colleagues to maintain brand consistency and execute creative visions.
- Manage the design workflow, update timelines, and prepare materials for stakeholders and suppliers.
- Analyze previous range performance alongside Buying and Merchandising to guide future designs.
- Maintain commercial awareness regarding costs, competitor activity, and sales trends to inform product development.
Collaboration and Reporting
Report directly to a Designer and work closely with various teams across product categories to ensure unified design objectives. Represent your product category in cross-departmental forums and working groups.

Candidate Profile
- Minimum two years' experience in a trainee or assistant design role with strong understanding of fashion design.
- Degree in fashion design or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to produce high-quality design work.
- Strong commercial insight and a passion for retail balancing creativity with business objectives.
- Meticulous attention to detail, well-organised, and capable of managing deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, collaborative spirit, positivity, and innovative thinking suited for a dynamic environment.
