Role Overview

The Legal Counsel for Technology will engage in varied legal responsibilities across digital and technological domains. This includes leadership in drafting and negotiating contracts related to enterprise technology, cloud services, software, and data. The role supports digital transformation and outsourcing initiatives spanning multiple international markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and negotiation of complex technology contracts, including software, cloud, data, digital services, and cross-border agreements.
  • Provide legal support for strategic digital transformation and outsourcing programs operating in diverse markets.
  • Offer clear and practical legal counsel on contracts, dispute resolution, and legislation relevant to technology, data and digital services, especially concerning cross-border data transfers, cybersecurity, and AI governance.
  • Advise on emerging technology topics such as AI applications, automation, data monetization, and evolving EU and UK regulatory frameworks.
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor on matters related to technology, data, and AI, fostering strong internal collaboration and guiding strategic and operational decisions.
  • Coordinate with external legal counsel across different jurisdictions, managing project timelines, budgets, and translating complex legal advice into accessible insights for non-legal stakeholders.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor with 4 to 6 years of post-qualification experience, gained through private practice or in-house roles.
  • Solid experience providing legal advice on technology, digital, or commercial issues within dynamic business settings.
  • Proven drafting and negotiating skills specifically for technology and commercial contracts, including cross-border engagements.
  • Familiarity with data protection, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance matters, ideally with exposure to both EU and UK legislation.
  • Keen interest or experience in AI, automation, digital platforms, and data-driven business models.
  • Demonstrated capability managing complex projects and initiatives involving multiple stakeholders with strong legal analysis while aligning with commercial goals.
