Role Overview
The Assistant Banquet Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Banquet Manager by organizing, coordinating, and managing banquet and event operations to guarantee superior experiences for guests. Responsibilities include leading the banquet team, upholding high service standards, collaborating across departments, and ensuring the flawless execution of events such as weddings, conferences, corporate gatherings, and social events.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and running banquet events aligned with client requests and company procedures.
- Manage the setup, service, and breakdown phases for events efficiently.
- Ensure banquet rooms meet event specifications and orders.
- Oversee event progress and swiftly address any operational challenges.
- Lead banquet staff during events and regular duties.
- Support employee scheduling, training activities, and evaluating performance.
- Conduct briefing sessions prior to events to clarify details and service standards.
- Enforce adherence to grooming, hygiene, and safety protocols among team members.
- Provide exceptional customer service and professionally manage guest inquiries and complaints.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and event coordinators throughout functions.
- Coordinate with kitchen, stewarding, housekeeping, engineering, and sales departments to ensure seamless event flow.
- Review banquet event orders carefully and communicate instructions to relevant teams.
- Engage in planning meetings and operational briefings.
- Monitor labor costs and operational expenses related to banquets.
- Assist with inventory management of banquet equipment, linens, and related supplies.
- Support verification of billing and preparation of event documentation.
- Ensure observance of company guidelines and budgetary constraints.
- Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and occupational safety regulations.
- Keep banquet areas clean and well-organized.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
Qualifications and Skills
- Hold a diploma or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or equivalent.
- Possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in banquet operations, food and beverage service, or event management.
- Previous leadership experience in a supervisory capacity is preferred.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and effective team management.
- Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possess a customer-first approach combined with problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of multitasking and performing under pressure during concurrent events.
- Well-versed in banquet service procedures and event coordination.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and hospitality management software.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
Working Conditions
- Flexible hours including availability on evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Physical requirements include standing and walking for prolonged durations.
- Occasional lifting and moving of banquet equipment within safe limits.
