Job description
Position Overview
North Carolina Central University’s Department of Art and Design is looking for an immediate adjunct faculty member in Studio Art, with a focus on areas such as Painting and Drawing. The role is intended for an educator who brings both creative practice and teaching experience, and who can guide students toward careers in the arts through studio instruction and lecture-based learning.
Teaching Scope
The adjunct may teach up to three courses within their area of expertise. Instruction is expected to combine in-person lectures, studio work, critique sessions, and exposure to both traditional and contemporary creative methods.
Course Assignments
For the Fall 2026 semester, the required in-person class is Painting I: Painting and Color Theory (3 credit hours), scheduled for Monday and Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 7:45 pm.
Depending on prior teaching background, candidates may also be considered for Introduction to Art History, an Art History course for non-majors worth 2 credit hours, scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday from 5:15 pm to 6:05 pm.
Future Teaching Opportunities
Additional teaching opportunities may arise in the Spring 2027 semester. Course offerings and class schedules can change from term to term.
