Job description
Position Overview
North Carolina Central University is seeking a Public Health Coordinator for a grant-funded role that is limited through June 30, 202X. The position reports to the Director of Health Promotion and Education and is centered on shaping and carrying out the university’s health education and promotion policies, procedures, and program priorities, with a strong focus on STI and HIV prevention.
Program Focus
This role is specifically tied to the ITTS grant and includes responsibility for promoting testing services and preparing related reports. The core goal of ITTS is to help more people living with HIV learn their status and connect to prevention, care, and treatment resources. The program is aimed at individuals whose behavior or circumstances increase their risk.
Key Mission and Service Model
ITTS supports efforts to reduce HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases by taking Counseling, Testing, and Referral services into community settings. These outreach services are intended to engage groups that may not realize they are at risk and may therefore remain undiagnosed. The position also involves providing testing in non-traditional environments and during non-standard working hours.
Client Follow-Up and Care Linkage
Trained counseling, testing, and referral staff are expected to make sure that clients who test positive are connected to medical care and other support services without delay. This includes active follow-up, referrals for all positive results, and coordination with local providers or Patient Management Networks so that HIV-positive clients can receive additional case management support.
Additional Information
This is a time-limited, grant-supported appointment. The role is dedicated to public health education, promotion, testing outreach, and reporting activities connected to STI/HIV prevention.
