Job description
Role overview
This position leads the Armaments, Avionics & Survival Equipment workshop operations, with responsibility for making sure all maintenance carried out off-aircraft meets approved technical data and quality requirements. The role reports to the Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager and focuses on the organisation, administration, control, and overall effectiveness of Part 145 bay operations.
The post requires a strong working understanding of Armament and AGE activities, along with the ability to think ahead tactically in a fast-changing environment where customer needs and product customisation can shift frequently. The role also involves close coordination with QAF support personnel and responsibility for planning maintenance events through effective scheduling and use of facility capability and capacity. Work packages and maintenance events must be planned, resourced, delivered, and controlled to schedule and cost, while staying aligned with customer expectations and agreed timelines.
Core activities
- Lead the delivery of associated work packages, including the technical instructions, labour needs, and material requirements for each maintenance task, while ensuring independent inspection points and safety-critical tasks are clearly identified and recorded.
- Oversee additional and unexpected work discovered during maintenance, including any deferrals, so the workload remains aligned to schedule commitments. Update and re-authorise the statement of work whenever changes occur.
- Make sure all off-aircraft maintenance work is completed in line with approved data and quality standards.
- Support the Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager in maintaining the organisation, administration, control, and efficiency of Part 145 Bay Operations.
- Apply tactical thinking and planning to respond to constant changes in customer requirements and product customisation, including balancing resources and training needs against evolving standards.
- Work closely with the customer and Qatari Air Force support teams.
- Provide information, statistics, and data for Operational Performance Reviews.
- Take direct management responsibility and handle performance and development activities.
- Ensure all maintenance activity is properly recorded and that airworthiness records are kept up to date on the relevant IT or paper-based systems. Prepare reporting, highlight issues, and escalate when needed.
- Review maintenance task effectiveness in AGE, report on results, and escalate any concerns, including additional or emergent work. Identify trends, drive resolution, or raise issues to management when appropriate.
- Maintain effective tactical relationships with Fleet Planning, Demand Management, Part 145 teams, Technical Services, Airworthiness Records, and third-party suppliers to support the required standard of Armament and Aerospace Ground Equipment maintenance.
- Maintain oversight of QAF consolidation, including logbook progress and tailored support needed to complete contractual obligations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities aimed at improving maintenance schedule effectiveness and identifying opportunities to optimise task planning and delivery.
Key accountabilities
- Performance indicators: set delivery targets, monitor progress, and build performance improvement plans to manage regulatory activities effectively. Prioritise tasks across teams to improve efficiency. Assess escalated issues for any impact on continuing airworthiness and resolve them effectively or escalate them further when required.
- Procedures and standards: follow the regulatory framework, related procedures, standards, and all applicable company rules. Recommend changes where needed.
- Management system assurance: ensure maintenance work complies with the governance and assurance framework, including process confirmations and independent assurance audits. Respond promptly to audit findings, support reviews with the necessary information, and help implement improvements to address any non-compliance while checking that those improvements are effective.
- Continuing airworthiness assurance: manage and apply the CAA system within Airworthiness Records, support audits, respond to findings in a timely way, and provide information for relevant reviews.
- Statutory, regulatory, and legislative compliance: demonstrate an appropriate understanding and application of the continuing airworthiness regulatory framework. Support regulatory changes being introduced into maintenance activity and ensure compliance with other obligations such as ITAR, EaPW, ISO, and similar requirements.
- Contractual requirements: comply with all applicable contractual obligations.
