Role Overview

The Hyderabad-based Reinsurance team collaborates closely with underwriters to perform catastrophe risk modeling for insurance, reinsurance, and retrocession contracts. The analyst will contribute to analytical and operational workflows related to reinsurance activities at the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use a combination of vendor-supplied and proprietary tools to perform catastrophe modeling to evaluate risks and calculate expected losses for individual contracts and portfolios.
  • Gain and maintain expertise in various reinsurance contract structures such as per occurrence, Excess of Loss (XOL), aggregate limits, and more.
  • Understand different instrument types including industry loss warranties, catastrophe bonds, reinsurance, and retrocession agreements.
  • Stay updated on natural catastrophe modeling software and model updates that affect analytical outcomes.
  • Liaise directly with brokers to model contracts accurately and support underwriting teams in multiple locations by providing actionable analysis for business decision-making.
  • Manage portfolio data by integrating new deal flow and preparing consistent portfolio reports.
  • Monitor global natural catastrophe events daily and assess their impact on portfolios, reporting these findings to underwriters.
  • Verify claims-related data quality and create reports as necessary.
  • Support the enhancement and creation of analytical tools and improve process efficiencies within the team.

Candidate Profile

Basic qualifications:

  • A master's degree in finance or equivalent discipline.
  • Up to two years of experience in analytical roles.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude and excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of programming languages, especially Python or SQL.
